Choen Lee

Choen Lee thought that if there's ever going to be a Wikipedia page about her, his wishful thinking is that it should be written like a Mad magazine article

Choen Lee (李春, Li Chun, born Q4 20th century) is the pseudonym and the sexier semi fictional version of the multidisciplinary artist Choen Lee whose real name is also Choen Lee.

Choen Lee allegedly dabbled in cartooning and architecture before becoming a photographer whose editorial and commercial works won multiple awards before encountering the COVID plague which lockdown conditions turned the artist into the sort of artist who makes art for the sake of making art for art sake.

"When I see injustice, I art it" - quoted by Art Market Magazine #82

Biography

"Hi my name is Choen Lee, which sounds like Chun Li of Street Fighter. My work will either steal a smile or challenge your perception of how things are. " -self introduction on social media

At present, the core theme of Choen Lee's main body of work explores the nature of identity within shifting perceived reality, asking what is real and what is acceptable as real?

Choen Lee is also a recipient of the ftNFT International Award (2024) in a ceremony held at the Burj Khalifa in Dubai.

In October 2022 the artwork 'For a Different Tomorrow' was projected by the Artcrush project onto an urban wall in Brussels in the heart of the EU, to raise awareness on the protests in Iran that was sparked by the death of Mahsa Amini who died in the hands of religious police because she didn't wear a head scarve.

In March 2023 the artwork 'Follow the Black Rabbit to the Far End of The Metaverse' was quietly removed by from the originally scheduled week long exhibition on the biggest billboard in Hong Kong. In 15 January 2025, Choen Lee's artwork 'Who Wants To Live Forever?' was launched to the moon onboard Blueghost Mission 1 as part of the MoonMars nanofiche inside the Lifeship pyramid shaped capsule that is one of the commercial payloads of the lunar lander.

Choen Lee's works have been published and exhibited worldwide, including venues and events like NY Times Square, Oculus WTC, Museum of The Future Dubai, in front of Galleria Nazionale d'Arte Moderna e Contemporeana in Rome, the biggest LED billboard in Hong Kong, XIV Florence Biennale, Artexpo Basel, CES 2024 etc
